Passione Italiana: the Art of Espresso

A masterfully renovated 1960s bar counter, set up for tastings by professional bar staff, is the highlight of the first Passione Italiana exhibition. This is a historiographical journey that focuses on the love between Espresso and its consumers which eventually came to represent Italian lifestyle all over the world. Among the exhibits, the first “Victoria Arduino” machine designed in 1910, along with industrial coffee machines and domestic coffee makers as the “Cornuta” by Gio Ponti, the “Concorso” aka “Diamante” by Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari, produced in 1956, “La upola” and “La conica” by Aldo Rossi, up to the latest technological solutions to make a proper espresso at home. Also on display is the series of “Tea & Coffee Tower” coffee sets designed for Alessi by internationally renowned architects, including Toyo Ito, Massimiliano Fuksas and Doriana Mandrelli, Jean Nouvel and Dominique Perrault.
